My Name is Alan and I Paint Pictures – documentary

Bio

Christian Capobianco is an award-winning producer and writer working in the fields of documentaries, music videos, commercials, film trailers, instructional videos, radio, and online media productions since 1992 and has been featured in The New Yorker, The New York Times, Los Angeles Times and Film Threat Magazine.

Her most recent production, made for Manhattan’s Museum of Jewish Heritage, is the short documentary, “The Last Synagogue in Auschwitz” (2008).

Among her numerous credits are the documentaries, “My Name Is Alan, and I Paint Pictures” (2008), which won the Bronze Medal at this year’s Park City Film Music Festival, as well as the Monaco Film Festival in 2007.

For Acorn Media, Ms. Capobianco produced a string of fitness DVDs, beginning with “Pre-Natal Fitness Fix” (2006). Featuring James Denton (“Desperate Housewives”), the DVD is available worldwide and was a top pick of the New York Times.

In 2005 she served as associate producer on “Aryan Brotherhood,” for the National Geographic television network. In addition, she produced the documentary “On the Backs of Giants.”

After four years in the Film Production/Critical Studies department at the University of Southern California (1989-1993), Ms. Capobianco worked on the motion pictures “The Last Boy Scout” and “Lethal Weapon 3.”

Buoyed by these experiences, she produced her first feature film, “Inevitable Grace” (1994). Ms. Capobianco lured Tippi Hedren (Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" and "Marnie") out of retirement to star, joining Maxwell Caulfield in a film chosen as a New York Times Critic’s Pick, and featured on CNN, MTV and other national broadcasts.

Forming her own company, “Walking the Dog Productions,” in 1998, Ms. Capobianco, has produced documentaries, music videos (Tom Petty), commercials (Perrier, Mitsubishi, McDonald’s, Tide) and promotions (Ryan Seacrest). She has produced film trailers for Lions Gate, Sony Pictures, and Weinstein Company. She has served as a creative consultant to New Line Pictures.

Responsible for assembling creative teams, budgets and pre and post-production, Ms. Capobianco worked for three years as producer/writer for Digital Entertainment Network (1999). There she created online promos for artists including Wyclef Jean, Mos Def and Ice T. Prior to that, she was the Director of On-Air Promotions for Access Entertainment Network (1997-1999), a 24-hour cable access music channel, where she produced spots that aired in top national markets for clients Spin Magazine, Fat Boy Slim and Master P.

Ms. Capobianco has also been a correspondent for Washington D.C.-based Talk Radio News, interviewing among others President Bill Clinton and Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour. In other areas, her writing credits include script punch-ups and contributing “Guidelines for Professional-Looking Vcasts and Vlogs” to the book “Ready, Set, Talk,” by Ellen Ratner.
